We proudly produce one of the most unique Kentucky Bourbons on the market. We use local, food-grade white corn, rye & malted barley, distill the spirit (white dog) at a low proof (105 proof), then go straight into the barrel without any addition of water, and bottle at barrel proof. Each batch is hand labeled, numbered & individually proofed. Due to the lack of any water being added, this bourbon is noticeably full-flavored & full-bodied, typically at 103 - 108 proof, much like a bourbon from the Pre-Prohibition era. Currently we only offer this in limited availability for purchase at our distillery gift shop. Each batch does typically sell out on the day of bottling. Therefore, we do recommend that you get it when you can!
Our "Kentucky Black Patch Whiskey" is made by aging our Kentucky Black Dog in well-used bourbon barrels, resulting in a delicate balance of smokiness with oak, vanilla, and honey notes. We use local, food-grade (dark fired) white corn, rye & malted barley, distill the spirit (black dog) at a low proof (105 proof), then go straight into the barrel without any addition of water, and bottle at barrel proof. Each batch is hand labeled, numbered & individually proofed. Due to the lack of any water being added, Black Patch is noticeably full-flavored & full-bodied, typically at 103 - 108 proof. Currently we only offer this in limited availability for purchase at our distillery gift shop. Each batch does typically sell out on the day of bottling. Therefore, we do recommend that you get it when you can!
We affectionately refer to our "White Dog" as a Silver Bourbon. Legally it is considered a spirit, as it has not been aged in a new, charred oak barrel. However, just like our bourbon, we use local, food-grade white corn, rye & malted barley, providing a noticeably floral flavor with some hints of spice from the rye. For those interested in learning what the spirit tastes like before aging, this is quite a unique representation of a white dog. Enjoy this neat, on the rocks, or as a unique base for crafting cocktails.
We know of nothing else on the market quite like our "Black Dog." Full of flavor, especially for a clear spirit, this product has proven itself as a fan favorite. We "dark fire" (smoke) the corn in a tobacco barn, the same way the local farmers have done for more than a century. We then take the corn, as well as rye & malted barley, and make a whiskey mash that could only come from the "Black Patch" of Kentucky. The smoky flavor of the spirit goes great by itself, or as an outstanding cocktail addition (our favorite here at the distillery is to use it in a Bloody Mary).
Our "True Kentucky Shine" is an authentic moonshine recipe of corn and cane sugar. Many legal "shines" on the market are simply just grain neutral spirits, or made from only sugar. But, here at MB Roland Distillery, we handmake every aspect of ours, including mashing & distillation on site in our copper pot still. When you taste ours, you'll notice apple & citrus notes with a finish of the floral notes from our white corn. If you want to experience the real flavor of a quality moonshine, give ours a try neat or out of the freezer. This also serves as a great mixer for cocktails, especially when you're going for an accurate Prohibition recipe.
There's only one "Kentucky Apple Pie" and it's made in Pembroke. Many folks ask us why our Apple Pie has such a unique, full flavor. Well it's simple, 100% pure apple cider with no additives or preservatives, a blend of cinnamon & other spices, a hint of brown sugar, and our True Kentucky Shine. This is great sipped neat, or try an "Apple Pie Manhatten." During the cooler months, we like to warm it up and put a healthy amount of whipped cream on top!
Folks come from near and far to taste and buy our "Kentucky Pink Lemonade." We make this all-natural lemonade using lemon juice, sugar, strawberries, and our True Kentucky Shine. During the summer months, this spirit is a favorite at our "Pickin' on The Porch" events (do we have to say WHY we have a snowcone machine?). This spirit is great alone, over ice, or mixed with some juice or soda.
Whatever you do, DO NOT compare our "St. Elmo's Fire" to other cinnamon-flavored spirits. Ours is like the name implies, full of natural cinnamon & cayenne and bottled at 100 proof. This product is meant to impress those that love cinnamon & spice, and scare off anyone who even thinks it may be too much for them. The name directly ties to the little community that our distillery is situated in, St. Elmo, Kentucky. There's really only two ways to enjoy this; out of the freezer, or to spice up a cocktail. Either way, consider yourself warned.
"Kentucky Strawberry Shine" is pretty simple; ripe strawberries combined with our signature True Kentucky Shine. There's actually over a full pound's worth of fruit per bottle! All of the colors and flavors that come with this delicious drink are completely natural in every way. The proof on this is a bit lower and tends to please both spirit and wine drinkers alike. This one is also great mixed with some cream soda over ice (strawberries & cream).
Probably one of the most curious fan favorites is our "Kentucky Blueberry Shine." We make it the same way as our strawberry, so for those who enjoy a good blueberry wine or port, we think you'll find this right up your alley. Just like our Strawberry Shine, this product has over a pound of fruit per bottle. This one is also great mixed with cream soda, we call it a "Sparkling Blueberry Muffin."
Last, but certainly not least, is our "Kentucky Mint Julep." This naturally-flavored liqueur is made with our "White Dog," spearmint leaves & sugar. Simply store it in the freezer and pour over crushed ice with a sprig of mint for the easiest authentic, all-natural mint julep cocktail!
